Academic Development and Administration

Hanri Landers
Head of International Foundation Year
As an Industrial Psychologist who specializes in career guidance, Pre-Bachelor Semester feels like home to me. I too struggled to find the right study direction, so not only do I understand the difficulty my students face, but I also am trained to support them and guide them with passion.
Being Namibian and having that international background myself, provides me with the unique perspective to understand and support international students. It is my personal aim to not only provide my students with an extraordinary learning environment but teach them to embrace the opportunity to be inspired, build a global network and understand what it means to study at university and what career their degree leads to.

Prof. Dr. Bassem Bassil
Academic Development & Deputy Head International Foundation Year
As an alumni and professor from Constructor University, I have a unique understanding of the university from both a student and professor’s perspective. Being from an international background (Beirut, Lebanon) while holding German Nationality, I understand what it means to be an international student with the intend to live and work in Germany.
This inspires me to develop the academic curriculum for the Pre-Bachelor Semester program in such a way that I know exactly what to prepare my students for and what teaching techniques will support them to be successful at our university. As science is not only my passion but also the specific area I specialize in, it provides me with the experience and the knowledge to advise my students as an academic advisor and inspire them as a lecturer. As mathematics is at the heart of all study directions at Constructor University, I too lead the mathematics modules within the PBS program with the prospect of advising students and improving their skills for continued success.

Weronika Maria Kotowska
Pre-Degree Coordinator
As pre-degree coordinator, I too share that international education journey of the pre-degree students. Having moved from Poland to Germany, I understand what it means to start from scratch in a new academic and cultural environment. With my Bachelor’s degree in English-German Applied Linguistics and Master’s degree in English-Speaking Cultures, I am trained and passionate about communicating in multiple languages across diverse cultures.
In my role as a Pre-Degree Coordinator, I apply my intercultural competence to guide and support students as they prepare for university life - helping them feel confident, informed, and ready to thrive in a new environment.

Romy Skade
Coordinator International Foundation Year
I come from northern Germany and studied Global Management in Bremen. Not only because of this I like working in the intercultural environment at Constructor University. Learning new languages, working with students and colleagues from all over the world and broadening my own horizons at the same time is something that I really enjoy every day.
During my studies, I spent a year abroad in Ecuador. From my own experience as an international student, I can support the students at Constructor University particularly well.
I am committed to accompany the students throughout their academic year and specifically to support them in all administrative matters and projects.

Dr. Jodi Szarko

My background is in Physical Chemistry, and I have worked in the US and in Germany. I will use my past experience to provide an engaging learning environment for PBS students in the math and science classes I teach. If we work together, students will develop the skills they need to excel in their future academic and career endeavors. If I am not teaching or in my office, I am probably running or baking.

Dr. Tanya Keni
Lecturer of Academic English
Pre-Degree Programs
I am an intercultural trainer and psychologist by background, with a master’s degree from India. I moved to Germany in 2021 to pursue my doctoral studies where I focused on the challenges international students face after migrating to Germany. Before my doctoral journey, I worked as a counsellor in India, supporting students with mental health concerns and career-related decisions. As an international student myself, I understand how overwhelming it can be to settle in a new country, both personally and professionally. At PBS, my goal is to support students not only in developing their academic skills but also by offering career guidance where relevant. When I’m not in the office, you’ll likely find me dancing or practicing yoga.

With a background in Physics and Observational Astrophysics, I have carried out research at universities and observatories around the world, including extended periods in Chile - often described as a paradise for astronomers - where I studied the formation and evolution of young stars using advanced imaging and data analysis techniques. Alongside my research, I have taught a wide range of science and technology courses at various academic institutions. I am now proud to be part of Constructor University, where I find great joy in both teaching and learning, and I am especially dedicated to mentoring students in the PBS program.
