Alumni mentoring program
Alumni mentoring programThe Alumni Office provides regular opportunities for alumni to give back to the university through different avenues including time, money, and expertise. One of the most fulfilling ways alumni can give-back is by connecting with a current student or a fellow alum through the Alumni Mentoring Program. Since launching in 2017, the program has connected over 700 alumni and students to share knowledge and assist one another with their career and post-graduation development. A new cohort starts every January with applications opening up in October, followed by matching in November and December. We currently over the following programs:
- Alumni/Student Mentoring
This 12-month program connects second-year students with an alum as they navigate the second half of their studies and approach graduation. Students have similar academic trajectories and milestones such as the annual Career Fair, searching for an internship, and the every-important step after graduation. You and your mentee will meet once per month to discuss topical and relevant issues. - Alumni/Alumni Mentoring
This 12-month program connects alumni as we recognize that alumni can benefit from each other’s professional experience. As compared to the alumni/student program, the alumni/alumni mentoring relies more on the intrinsic motivation of the participants with discussion topics relative to each pair.
Additionally, the Alumni Office helps promotes other mentorship opportunities such as those through the Constructor Entrepreneurship and Innovation Center and partnering with outside organizations and companies.
Mentor/mentee tandems in both programs are selected based on factors such as common academic, professional, and personal interests. It is not an exact science, and we work hard to find complimentary matches while maximizing the number of pairs.
