Welcome to the new series, Your Major, Your Club.

In this series, I’ll walk you through all the majors offered at Constructor University and the clubs that complement them best. Of course, you should also join clubs that spark your interest; however, joining and participating in club activities that best complement your major is a great way to boost your resumé.
To kick things off, I’ll start with the best major on campus: International Relations, Politics & History, also commonly known as IRPH. And yes, if you couldn’t tell by my high praise, I study IRPH. So, no, I will not hear any arguments about why IRPH isn’t the best. However, two clubs pair well with IRPH: the International Politics & Leadership Society (IPL) and The Global Review (TGR).

International Politics & Leadership Society: The International Politics and Leadership Society (IPL) is the default club for IRPH students. Joining this club is a great way to socialize with fellow IRPH students and faculty members. Furthermore, you can apply the concepts you learnt in class by participating in MUN, which the IPL hosts. The IPL society also provides IRPH students with the means to discuss their political views in a respectful and safe environment during Pints & Politics.
The Global Review: The Global Review (TGR) is a student-led newspaper founded in 2022 by four IRPH students from the Class of 2024. Each week, TGR releases a new edition that features news from around the world. One cool thing about TGR is that it covers news from places that are often not considered, so most times, you get to learn something new about an underrated part of the world. Working at the TGR as an IRPH student means conducting more research and staying up to date with news from various parts of the world, which is beneficial because it’s essential to our studies. There are four positions at TGR: Regional Editor, Staff Writer, Contributing Writer, and finally, the Executive positions.

Joining these clubs will help develop the skills you need for future internships and jobs. IPL is great for boosting your confidence in public speaking, debating, and thinking on your feet, making it perfect if you're aiming for a career in politics, diplomacy, or any leadership-related field. On the other hand, TGR helps you improve your writing and research skills. Basically, if you’re studying IRPH and want to make the most of your time here, these clubs are the way to go.
