The 2026 theme, Roots & Routes, explores the connections between identity, heritage, and movement. It invites both artists and audiences to reflect on the origins that shape us and the journeys that transform us. From cultural traditions and personal histories to migration, change, and unexpected encounters, the theme highlights how experiences influence creativity and connection. It encourages a dialogue between past and present, stability and transformation.
The subtopics: Journeys in Motion, Pilgrimage, and Serendipity explore continuous change and movement in personal and creative paths, meaningful journeys of transformation and self-discovery, and the unexpected encounters and moments that shape our experiences.
ArtFest 2026 will present a curated selection of diverse and inspiring works across multiple disciplines, highlighting creativity, innovation, and artistic expression. Visitors can expect a rich and immersive experience featuring visual art, performances, and interactive elements.
ArtFest continues to grow as an international platform for artistic exchange. The exhibition brings together local and international artists, fostering collaboration and cultural dialogue within and beyond the Bremen community. Previous editions have welcomed over 1,000 visitors, featured more than 200 artworks, and included live performances and contributions from both student and external artists.
